Difference between Ready Growing Kit and Sow N ’Grow Kit:
Ready growing kit: The growing process has already begun in our growing facility that has brought the mushrooms to a growing stage under ideal growing conditions. This kit will produce fresh mushrooms within days. All that is required is that you spray the kit with water twice a day.

Sow and Grow Kit: In this kit you will receive the raw materials (mushroom compost and casing peat). You mix the peat and the compost (instructions included) and then watch as the mycelium begins to grow and produce fresh mushrooms in about two weeks. The end product is the same as the Ready Growing Kit.

How to look after my kit:

Keep indoor and out of direct sunlight.

Keep in a room at a temperature of 16-19c (standard household room)

Spray with a spray mister twice a day

Location & Environment

Keep your kit indoors and out of direct sunlight. For best results, keep your kit in a room at a temperature of 16 to 19C. In colder months, growth may be slower, keep your kit in a space that will be the least impacted by cooler temperatures. For best results, keep the kit away from drafts and heat sources e.g. direct sunlight, radiators. The mushrooms will grow best in a humid environment that is not drying.

Watering my kit

The top inch of the peat needs to be kept moist and not dry out. A good method is to water by spraying with a spray mister. Spray as often as needed to keep moist.  It is important not to overwater as this may cause your kit to flood and harm growth. When mushrooms are visible, they do not need water (water may discolour), but the peat does.

How and When to Pick?

This kit can grow two different types of mushrooms, buttons and large open portabello flats. You can decide to pick the mushrooms at the size you require. Pick button mushrooms as required, they will grow quite a bit in one day. To grow large open flats, you will have to allow space for them to grow into, by picking some surrounding mushrooms.

Simply twist and pull the mushroom to pick. Cut the end of the stalk to remove the root.

How long will it grow mushrooms for?

You should have your first crop within a few days. You should get between 3-4 crops of mushrooms with about a week to ten days between each crop. Overall, your home grow kit should last you between 4-6 weeks. It is important to pick all mushrooms at the end of each crop and keep moist.

Once finished growing the mushrooms

Your compost is packed with nutrition and great for the garden, especially as a mulch. We recommend you mix the layers together then distribute in the garden or garden waste bin.

The bucket is made from plastic and can be washed and reused.
